Welcome! Greetings from the Director of the School of Pre-Hospital Medical Emergencies, Rescue and Disasters of Universidad Santa Paula. 

In our program’s section you will find all the information about the study program of the Pre-Hospital Medical Emergency and Rescue Career approved by CONESUP, a career that will provide you with the greatest pre-hospital training in Costa Rica from a medical and traumatic point of view, as well as with a wide knowledge in rescue. You will also find information about courses from the American Heart Association (AHA) and the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT). 

We have first class equipment and laboratories necessary for a correct training in our programs, as well as the necessary updated bibliography, international databases and access to the best publications of the sector for all the students. In addition to this, our teachers and instructors work full time in pre-hospital emergency and rescue services, as well as in emergency services in clinics and hospitals in the public and private sectors, thus counting on a great experience that increases day by day as well as a permanent professional updating. 

Our students do their internships in the public and private sectors, which allows them to have a more integral formation, as well as rotations in emergency services of different national medical centers.

The Bachelor in Prehospital Medical Emergencies and Rescue of the Universidad Santa Paula can perform activities such as:  

  • Advanced pre-hospital paramedic care and rescue. 
  • Planning of emergency prevention and rescue programs 
  • Administration of emergency and rescue services. 
  • Develop prevention and promotion programs for safe mass activities and participate in teaching health actions aimed at the population. 
  • Planning the organization, direction and control of emergencies and rescue in public and private institutions. 

A graduate of the Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical and Rescue Care Program may work in the following areas:
